Discovering Toronto’s Harbour: A Boater’s Perspective

I’m supposed to be working today, but I must be more focused.

It is so hard to do when surrounded by such incredible beauty. I mean, it’s just unreal. I will be going around the corner here and would like you to look at this view.

Look at the CN Tower right behind me. You see it right there? Fantastic!

First, a little context: it’s the end of September, and my friends and I have a heatwave in Toronto. I’ve been on the island just hanging out on my own.

I will spin things around so you can see the spectacular view I am confronted with and ask yourself whether or not you would have difficulty focusing in this environment.

It’s a huge challenge.

Spinning the boat around, take a look behind me, and you know, all around the world, there’s this craziness happening and a lot of suffering.

It seems, at times, we’re on the verge of a terminal nuclear war with someone, and I’m here in my little oasis. And it’s not that I’m tuning out the world.

It’s not that I’m not empathetic toward people’s plight, but I don’t know; there’s this saying: don’t confuse your problems with being my problems.

I’m not saying I don’t have empathy towards other people, but I can’t get pulled into everybody’s shit.

I can’t look at that; this is my reality, and you create your reality. I’ve worked hard over the years.

It still is tough because I’m having a challenge monetizing my projects, but I’m going to make it work, and I’m looking forward to taking people on some tours in a very controlled way, with the right insurance and licenses and everything else, because, you know, being on a boat,

I’ve always said it’s a privilege, not a right, and you’ve got to pay attention to the details.

Still, I wanted you to see this spectacular view at the end of September in Toronto, which is unheard of. We’re lucky because nasty weather burned us earlier in the season.

Now we’re sorry I got distracted and forgot what I said. I’m not even paying attention to what I’m saying because I’m stunned by this beauty.

I prefer Final Cut Pro, but often post raw cuts to share these spontaneous moments—because authenticity beats production value every single time.

In August 2024, I used Final Cut Pro to add the new ‘IbraDan Creative’ 4-second outro and burned in captions using Rev.com. I kept transitions and effects to a minimum to avoid distracting from the scenery—because sometimes the best production choice is to let nature speak for itself.
